Virgil Leroy Good (Lee) passed away on February 18th at the age of 69. After his brave battle with ALS for over three years, Lee died peacefully in his sleep next to his loving wife of 42 years, Connie Good. Known for his patience, resilience, and fondness for his family and life, Lee will be greatly missed by all those lucky enough to have had him play a role in their lives
Lee was born on June 6th, 1950 in La Junta, Colorado. He was one of eight children. After graduating high school, Lee joined the United States Navy, ultimately serving honorably for three years. During his time of service with the Navy, Lee was fortunate to cross the equator twice, graduating from a ‘Pollywog’ to a ‘Shellback.’ Throughout his life, Lee proudly looked back on his time in the United States Navy.
In 1976, when Lee returned home from naval service, he met Connie, the love of his life. Lee and Connie went on to marry and became a loving and adoring father to Trisha Machado and Tanya Nickerson.
Lee was an avid music lover and talented photographer. He traveled the world during his time in the Navy and then later with his wife and family. In 2012, after retiring from work at Ricoh, Lee and Connie packed up their life and traveled the US in their motorhome. During their travels, Lee and Connie found their forever home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. During his time in Havasu City, Lee found great joy in paddle boarding on the lake and spending time with his dear friends.
Lee was the son of the late Orceila Good and Leroy Good, and brother to Margaret, Susan, Anita, Davey, Tommy, Ronnie and Lisa. Lee was married to Connie Good and father to Trisha Machado and Tanya Nickerson. Lee was also the proud grandfather to Casaundra Cumberlege, Robert Ferrell, Brian Machado, Jordon Rasumoff, Jessica Fischer, Alexandra Machado and Jet Robinson. Perhaps his greatest achievement was earning the respect and unconditional adoration of this motley crew of grandchildren.
Lee will be fondly remembered not only by his loving wife and immediate family; he will also be remembered by all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Lee’s military service will be held at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver, CO on March 20th at 2:30pm MT. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ALS Association.
