Violet Newell passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on May 14, 2021. She was born in 1938 and raised in Lawrenceville, Illinois. After marrying Arthur Newell, they moved to Arizona in 1958, where they raised their family together on the west side of Phoenix. Violet worked for the Department of Food Services for the Cartwright School District until retirement. She lived in Chandler, AZ for the past twenty years, enjoying time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan and followed both the Phoenix Suns and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Violet is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Newell, two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her children, Kim Runge, Carol Martinez, Kelly Busk, and Robert Newell, as well as brothers Bill Hill and Phillip Hill, and sisters Doretta Schemerhorn and Kathy Reeder, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
