Violet Marie May

March 5, 1930 – March 5, 2023

Violet Marie May, 93, of Phoenix, AZ, died Sunday, March 5, 2023.

She was born to Oscar and Isa Anderson on March 5, 1930, in Oskaloosa, KS.

Throughout her life, she worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant, TG&Y,

JC Penney, West Texas Schools and Oskaloosa Unified School District. On April 1,

1947, she married Eugene Charles May, and together raised six children; Michael,

Susan, Samuel, Julie, Mark and Charles.

Violet loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and took joy in serving at her church. She enjoyed

sharing her love of baking and was known to surprise loved ones with a sheet pan (or two) of her famous cinnamon rolls.

Violet is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Isa, her husband, Eugene, her siblings, Wilbur, Samuel, Ruby (Stewart), Goldie, Juanita (Stewart), Ella Francis (Smith), Beulah (Bunn), Oscar Jr. And TJ, her grandchildren, Shawn Smith and Troy May, along with seven others she will meet for the first time in Heaven. She is survived by her children, Michael (and Diana) May of Hockley, TX, Susan (and John) Getchell of Phoenix, AZ, Samuel (and Chris) May of Sun City, AZ, Julie Martin of Phoenix, AZ, Mark (and Claire) May of Kansas City, MO, and Charles (and Chris) May of Phoenix, AZ, 25 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.

A public memorial service will be held on Friday, March 10th at 11:00 AM at North Valley Baptist Church, 2109 E. Rose Garden Lane, Phoenix, AZ 85024. There will be another service held in Kansas in July 2023.
