Bodmer, Thomas Carl Thomas (Tom) Carl Bodmer died on June 25, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Phoenix, AZ. Tom was born on September 9, 1947, in Kenmare, ND. He was the fifth and youngest son of Herbert and Olive Bodmer. Tom graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following graduation, he returned to Kenmare to farm. In 2005, he was the grateful recipient of a lung transplant at the University of Minnesota Hospital. Because of the generosity of the organ donation, he was able to celebrate the tenth anniversary of his transplant in May. Tom and his longtime partner Howard Ives married in Minneapolis on September 8, 2014. Over the past several years, Tom and Howard split their time between Phoenix, AZ, Minneapolis, MN, and Kenmare, ND. In Phoenix, they were very active in the Lambda Car Club. Tom was known as an excellent host and his friends and family enjoyed many fine dinners at his home. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his husband Howard Ives, Howard's daughter Melanie (Barry) and her daughter Brooke, his brothers George (Sally), John (Violet), Paul (Judy) , and Henry (Joan), several nieces and nephews, and double cousins Allen Bodmer, Kathryn (Jerry) Pope, and Jane Bodmer. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 30, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E. Greenway Rd., Phoenix. Funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 801 E. Camelback Rd., Phoenix, on Wednesday, July 1 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 E. Shea Blvd., Scottsdale, AZ will follow the funeral service.
