Thelma Mae Moothery

Thelma Mae Moothery, age 82, traded her struggle with cancer for her heavenly reward on Monday, February 5, 2018. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on December 5, 1935, to the proud parents of Ossie and Jewel Shaw. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Phillip Moothery; Parents: Ossie and Jewel Shaw; Children: Sharon Moothery and Derrick Moothery; Grandchildren: Jada Fields and Naz Moothery; and Siblings: Daisy Ratcliffe, Jacqueline Green, and Patricia Payne.

She continues to reside in the hearts of her loving children: Mary Bankston, Terry Lee (Angel) Moothery, Lee Moothery, Clinton Green, Michael (Zulma) Moothery; devoted siblings: Apostle William Payne, Betty Mae Glenn, and Joann Payne; precious grandchildren: Shawn, Bianca, Lawann, LaToya, Hugette, Terry, Gavin, Jordan, Anthony, Autumn, Jessica, Ryan, Danielle; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; cousins; in-laws and her four-legged best friend, Romo.

Thelma was a very stylish woman and even in her gray years remained en vogue. She had an infectious sense of humor, which she often used when confronted with tragedy. Thelma was addicted to music, from Motown to Hip-Hop, Country to Gospel, great songs produced some of her greatest memories and was a constant source of comfort in her home and heart. She was a very caring and gentle woman, save for when defending her children. Then there was no greater combatant. Thelma had a tremendous heart that greeted all that were willing, no matter their race, creed, or orientation.

Thelma loved the LORD with all her heart! The world has truly lost a great wonder.
