Born on January 6, 1950, Susan grew up in greater Boston, MA. In 1977, she met her husband, George Ray, a Cambridge Police officer who visited her week after week at the IHOP restaurant where Susan worked as a waitress. They married in 1980. In 1992, Susan and George moved to Phoenix, AZ, where Susan continued her 40-year career as a travel agent. She loved to help people plan and enjoy vacations across the world, and she herself travelled the world with her husband, family, and friends. More than anything, Susan loved the beach, and she enjoyed her final beach vacation, surrounded by her family, just weeks before her passing.
In addition to her husband George, Susan is survived by her eight children, Brendan, Christopher, and Jason Walsh, Ann Marie Resteghini, Kathy Woodward, and Michael, Julie, and Marybeth Ray.
Susan was mother-in-law to Rachel Sulkes, Marcie McNaughton Walsh, Pamela Walsh, and Peter Resteghini, and she was the adored Grammie of Anna, Naomi, Zoe, Sydney, Jared, and Camryn Walsh, Taylor Resteghini, Matthew Woodward, and Ashley Ray. She was Great Grammie to Lylah & Natalie Woodward.
Susan was the loving sister of Carol Sullivan, Paul Najarian, Helen Levine, George Najarian, and Donna Reiss. She was pre-deceased by her mother Louise Corcoran and father John Najarian, as well as her siblings Nancy Valeri, Linda Forrestall, Jack Najarian, Cynthia White, and Mary Ann Najarian.
A service in celebration of Susan’s life will be held on Saturday, September 16.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
