Steven Hill, 39, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on August 2, 2024. Born on July 15, 1985 in Hartford, Connecticut to Lisa and Ted Hill, Steven grew to be a loving son, caring family member, and a devoted husband to his wife, Lauren. He was also a doting “dog dad” to their beloved, Keiko-chan.
As a child Steven loved building Legos with his brothers, swimming, reading, snowboarding, jet skiing and anything to do with the Star Wars Universe. He loved his siblings and often put their well-being ahead of his own. He was a good student, a friend to many and an Eagle Scout.
He developed an interest in electronic devices and was excited to learn how they worked and how to repair them. Steven graduated from Mountain View High School in Mesa, Arizona in 2004, and went on to attend Mesa Community College and received a degree in Sound Engineering.
Steven loved cars and especially loved driving, repairing, and upgrading his vintage BMW. He was an active part of the AZ BMW group where he developed many lifelong friendships and met his wife Lauren. He looked forward to attending Bimmerfest as often as he could. He was also a lifelong, devoted fan of the Phoenix Suns.
Steven’s career was as dynamic as his personality. He worked in various roles, from parts department at Brown & Brown Chevrolet to customer support at CWIE and Secure Document Imaging. He also worked in Information Technology for a local charter school for several years.
But his true passion was music. Steven’s love for music began with his introduction to piano at an early age. He expanded his musical talents playing the sax, percussion instruments and singing in his school choirs. His desire to share his love of music grew as he performed with the touring musical group “Sound Celebration”. Steven embraced many musical genres from John William's "Star Wars" to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon".
Steven worked for Walter Productions in technical support. This enabled him to travel to major festivals including Bonnaroo, Burning Man, and Electronic Daisy Carnival. He also performed on their art cars at the festivals.
Steven loved nothing more than DJing on the rooftop of Bar Smith, especially with his friends. He was a resident DJ at BFF which is a club night on Fridays. He fed off the movement and energy of the crowd and in turn he gave them his heart and his soul. He loved making people dance, smile and forget their worries for a moment.
After this, Steven was asked to be part of "One More Time - A Tribute to Daft Punk". He performed shows all over the world as part of the band. Steven was also a tutor at AMMP Studios in Mesa where he helped students learn to DJ.
Steven will be missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife, Lauren Ogino; his parents, Ted and Lisa Hill of Mesa, Arizona, his grandmother, Jill Davis of Anacortes, Washington; and his siblings, Adrienne (Michael) Mosley of Henderson, Nevada, Sean (Daryl) Hill of Mesa, Arizona, Eric (Kimber) Hill of Houston, Texas and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Steven was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and LaDean Hill, granddaddy Lynn Garrison and his aunts Juanita Ray Hill and Kathleen Crosby Hill.
