Samuel Fred Finley, Jr. was born on July 5, 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was one of five children born to Samuel Sr. and Jennie Mae Finley. Samuel attended school and completed his Associates Degree in Phoenix, Arizona. As a young man, Samuel was always active and loved martial arts. He achieved the high-ranking level of a black belt. Samuel became a member of the Nation of Islam early in life where he embraced his new extended family and cherished the love and friendships of the sisters and brothers of Muhammad Mosque #32. Samuel was a cherished member of the community and faithfully served as FOI Paper Captain. Samuel was a very skilled and diligent man. After completing his Apprenticeship, Samuel went on to become a Journeyman Plumber. After more than 30 years in the industry, Samuel retired and bought another home in his beloved town, Phoenix, Arizona where he lived until his death. Samuel leaves behind to cherish his memory, his only beloved daughter, Khalilah Lauderdale; three grandchildren: Isabelle, Erin and Lauren; two brothers and two sisters, Ronald Finley, Ellen Benton, Kenneth Finley, all of Phoenix and Deboraha Finley-Chappel of Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
