Sadie was raised and educated in Newkirk, Oklahoma graduating in 1950. After graduating from Newkirk High School, Sadie completed nursing school in Wichita, Kansas. Sadie had a passion for nursing and utilized her skills around the world as a traveling nurse in the Peace Corp. Throughout her nursing career, Sadie earned a Bachelor’s Degree and two Master’s Degrees in Nursing and Health Administration.
Sadie later moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she worked and retired from Indian Health Services at the Phoenix Indian Health Center. In her years of working for Indian Health Services, she received several awards, medals, and ribbons for her boundless service. Sadie was also featured in several magazines, including Cosmopolitan, for her nursing accomplishments. Sadie was also a very proud member of the Kaw Tribe of Oklahoma.
Sadie was survived by her self-appointed children Raul Covarrubias and Alejandro Ortiz Teran of Phoenix, Arizona, a niece, Sandy Stout of Newkirk, Oklahoma, two great nephews, Jesse Houser of Tulsa, Oklahoma and David Wood of Newkirk, Oklahoma, four great nieces Samantha Goodno of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Angela Stout of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Amanda Stout of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Meghan Stout of Blackwell, Oklahoma along with several great-great nieces and nephews. Sadie is also survived by her companion, Galen Clavier of Carlsbad, California. Sadie was preceded in death by both of her parents and her brothers Jack Stout and Warren Stout.
Sadie was loved immensely and will be missed by all that knew her.
