Irving Ross Anderson, 83, passed away in Phoenix, Arizona on March 10, 2016. He was born October 6, 1933 in Phoenix to Altagracia Bueno Anderson and Robert Hunter Anderson. He had two brothers, Hunter McCormick Anderson and James Craig Anderson. Ross attended Phoenix Union High School but graduated from Glendale High. He attended Phoenix College then the University of Arizona where he studied law and was active in ROTC. Ross passed the Arizona Bar examination before he graduated from law school. After becoming an attorney, Ross was accepted as a Captain of the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Upon completion of his military service, he worked for the Arizona Attorney General's Office and thereafter in private law practice. He was awarded a plaque for over 50 years of service to the legal profession of the State of Arizona. Ross loved golf, photography, West Coast swing dancing and hosting pit parties (roasting pigs in the ground) on his large property. He was a member of St. Francis Church and served as an usher for Sunday Mass for many years. Ross is survived by his daughter Traci Kathleen Anderson, son Robert Hunter Anderson II (Hilary Buchholz), brother James Craig Anderson (Cheryl), girlfriend Sheila Harmer and lifetime friend Betsey Bayless. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and Leon the Dachshund and Tatum the Basset Hound. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Hunter, and his former wife Kathleen Michelena. Ross was best known for his generosity and kindness. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 20 at AL Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road, from 4-6pm with a rosary at 5:30. A funeral Mass will be on Monday March 21 at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Church, 4715 N. Central Avenue followed by burial at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th Street. Immediately thereafter, a gathering will be held at the VFW at 4853 E. Thomas Road.
