Ronnie Raye was born in Phoenix on February 9th, 1958 to Robert Raye Armstrong and Nancy Sue Mahan-Armstrong. He was the oldest of two children, his sister Judy. He attended Madison Elementary for 1st thru 8th grade and then Camelback High School. Ronnie was baptized on 1971 at the Camelback Church of Christ. The Armstrongs were members at the 12th street congregation and then were members at Camelback Church of Christ. After graduating from Camelback High School in 1977, Ron went to work as an iron-worker in Bagdad, Arizona. In 1978, Ron attended Abilene Christian University and then moved to Houston in 1981 to work in the oil business. He attended the Westbury Church of Christ. He moved back to Phoenix in 1987 and started working at Paddock Pools until they phased out the pool service department. He then decided to start his own business- Armstrong Pool Service. Enjoying the bachelor life, he got himself a horse, but the Lord had something else planned.
In the fall of 1992, Ron met his future wife, Stacey Pickering, when he went to Lincoln, Nebraska for an ASU-Nebraska football game. The two spent the next ear making short trips back and forth from Lincoln to Phoenix. Finally, Stacey decided to move out to Phoenix in October of 1993. December 19, 1993 Ron knowing she was the one, asked Stacey to marry him. On March 26, 1994 in Lincoln, Nebraska, they were married. The following twenty-four and a half years saw them move into their home and welcome 5 children into their lives. Gabrielle Avery, Jacob Raye, Travis Lee, Cole Henry, and Reagan Reed.
As a family they enjoyed camping trips up on the rim. Once the boys were old enough, Ron took them to his favorite fishing spot on the Black River. Ron spent his early morning hours cleaning pools and the day time hours at home with his family They homeschooled their children which meant lots of time for camping trips and day trips around Arizona. In September of 2018 Ron was diagnosed with metastatic Melanoma. The following months were spent undergoing radiation and immunotherapy. Ron said from the beginning he was prepared and ready to meet his Lord and Savior. In the early hours of February 10, 2019 Ron took his final breath and passed from this life. Leaving behind his wife Stacey, their five children, and sister Judy Armstrong Price (Darrell) nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Dad and Mom.
