Born to Lindell J. and Myrtle I. Shuck on January 1, 1948 in Salem, OR, Ron was the youngest of three boys. Together with his brothers Gary [m Gail] and Dallas [m Diane], Ron lived and attended schools in Days Creek, Eugene, and Portland, OR. Being the youngest, Ron was nicknamed “Baby Huey” and teased mercilessly by his older brothers until he outgrew them in size.
As a young boy, Ron enjoyed fishing with his uncles and playing baseball for his uncle Bill. He also developed a lifelong interest in the piano.
Upon graduating, H.S. Ron was hired by U.S. Bank in Portland, OR where he remained employed for 30 years until his retirement. Ron married Susan Heller and together they bore four children; Jason, Lori Elizabeth, Keri [m David Meyers] and Ryan. Ron and Susan later divorced, with Susan and children relocating to WA state. Ron continued his strong relationship with his children for his remaining years.
Ron remarried in 1989 to a fellow U.S. Bank employee, Michele D’Armond. They spent most of the next five years caring for his mother Myrtle in her long battle with cancer. Upon her passing, they relocated to Silverdale, WA where Ron entered the Real Estate profession. Soon after, Ron and Michele developed a wanderlust, purchased a 34 foot motor home, and began years of travel around the US. They eventually settled again in Sedona, AZ, and ten years later in the Phoenix area where they remained until Ron’s passing.
Ron will be remembered by many for his generosity, kindness, and his lifelong devotion to his parents, children and grandchildren, as well as a special devotion to a large bowl of ice cream at any time of the day.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lori Elizabeth and brother Dallas. Ron is survived by his best friend and wife Michele, son Jason, daughter Keri, son Ryan, brother Gary, and grandchildren Austin, Dillin, Sydney, Lucas, and Luke.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
