Rudy was born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico, moving to El Paso when he was 11 years old. After graduating from El Paso Technical High School, he then joined the Navy. During his enlistment, he was assigned to the USS Oriskany, serving honorably in a tour in the Vietnam War. He retired from the United States Post Office. "Speedy" a nickname he was extremely fond of and known for throughout his career.
Rudy’s greatest passion was loving the other half of his heart and soul, Maria Magdalena (Nena), as they fell in love almost instantly and were forever lifelong partners. Rudy and Nena moved to California, and then began to root themselves in Phoenix, AZ in 1972. Rudy’s desire to travel lead to many memory making trips with his lovely wife and beautiful children exploring the country. Rather it be by air, land, or sea.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria Magdalena, their children Leticia (Michael) Morales, Rita Ybarra, Beatriz (Robert) Felix, Felipe Gonzalez (Daniel Tyler), Magdalena (Gregg) Heller, Carolina Gonzalez, Cristina Thornton, and his sister Irma (Antonio) Borrego. Plus 29 grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his mother, Isabel Socorro Gonzalez, his daughter Isela Degollado and son Alejandro Rey Gonzalez.
