He was predeceased by his wife Gay in 2007, and daughter Rhonda in 2009.
He is survived by daughter Susie, 4 grandchildren; Casey, Nikki, Cameron, and Natalie and 5 great grandchildren; Nicholas, Nevin, Tyler, Lucy, and Landon.
He was born in Greencastle, Indiana in 1928 and enlisted in the Navy in 1946. He served 2 years before he left to start his career in sheet metal work. He was part of the sheet metal workers union, and retired in 1993 to spend more time with his family. He was just about the handiest man to ever live and could fix or build anything he was asked to. After he retired, he could often be found in his shed, working away.
But his first love was definitely his family. He was the type of man who showed up at every recital, concert, and family event. His love for his children and grandchildren was evident in all he did.
He also had the best sense of humor. He was witty, and was a great storyteller. His humor bordered on inappropriate in a way only the kindest and good-hearted old men can get away with.
He will be missed dearly by his surviving family, and probably by anyone who encountered him. To know him was to love him.
A service will be held in his honor on Saturday, December 14th at A.L. Grimshaw Mortuary at 11:30 a.m. 710 W Bethany Home Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85013.
