Robert John Pierce Jr.

Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois to Ruth and Robert Pierce, Sr. He graduated from Grant High School in Fox lake, Illinois in 1953. He attended Arizona State College (later Arizona State University), graduating with a degree in accounting. He served in the Finance Corp of the U. S. Army at Fort Ord, California from January 1958 to January 1960. He worked in Administration at Arizona State University from June 1960 to September 1989. In June 1965, he met his future wife, Sharlan Haynes. They were married a year later on June 19, 1966.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharlan (Tempe), his sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Bob Arnold (California), his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy and Jim Morris (Texas), his nieces Susan (Rick) Lueders, Nancy (Fred) Kaifesh, Terry (Dick) McCarthy (all California) and Sally Adelman (Connecticut). He is also survived by 11 great nieces and nephews, 21 great, great nieces and nephews and his German Shepherd Dog, Lisa Mae.

A memorial service will be held at University Presbyterian Church (139 E. Alameda Drive, Tempe) at 10:00am on Saturday January 20, 2024. Committal will be in the Memorial Garden adjacent to the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to University Presbyterian Church (Tempe) or the Arizona Humane Society (Phoenix).
