Bob was born on September 2, 1929 in Braddock, Pennsylvania to Louis and Anna (Joyce) Kusserow. He grew up in Glassport, Pennsylvania and attended Glassport High School. After graduating, he joined the United States Army where he served as a disciplinary guard.
After his military service, Bob earned a B.A. degree from West Liberty State College. While at WLSC, he played football and was a 1st Team All-WVIAC member in 1953. Bob then worked as a teacher and football coach in Ohio, created greeting cards in Reno and Las Vegas, illustrated textbooks at Biological Sciences Curriculum Study, created promotional films as Art Director for ELBA in Denver, and focused his talents as an acclaimed freelance wildlife artist.
While living in South Dakota, Bob was recognized with several hunting stamp awards, including first-of-state honors for the South Dakota and Wyoming hunting stamps. After relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, he redesigned the Maricopa County Flag and enjoyed working as a prison and security guard for several years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Louis J. and Howard Kusserow, infant twin sisters Jean Ann & Jo Ann Kusserow, niece Karen Kusserow, nephew Kenneth Kusserow, and grandson Steven Newcomb.
He is survived by his daughter Lorri Bohm, son Rob Kusserow, grandchildren Joey Blair, Cassie Blair, Jack Blair, and ex-wife Judy Stanley Kusserow. He also leaves behind his nephews Richard Stanley, Dennis Stanley, Stephan Stanley, Dr. Chris Stanley, Ron Kusserow, Lou Kusserow, Dr. Kurt Kusserow and his nieces LuAnn Fernandez, Jill Cooper, Heather Stanley, Sarah Stanley. His life will be remembered by all those who have survived him.
A memorial service will be arranged by Mount Vernon Cemetery in McKeesport, Pennsylvania at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The West Liberty University Foundation or Hospice of the Valley.
Bob was a talented and versatile artist who found pleasure in creating art through various mediums well into his 90s. He will be remembered for his creativity, his sense of humor, and his love of family and friends.
