Robert was born and raised in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin to Genevieve and Harry Kohler.
Robert is a Veteran of the U.S. Army (Corporal) and served honorably from July 1951 to December 1952.
He married Patricia G. Schultz in 1954, and they were together until her death in 1994.
Together, with two daughters, Robert and Patricia moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1960. There, a third daughter was born.
In 1964, Robert started his own successful wholesale frozen food brokerage, Kohler Sales Company, out of his home. As the business grew, he moved the business out of the home, took on partners and the business became Arizona Food Service, Inc. He sold his business and retired in the late 1980's.
He enjoyed traveling, photography, sports and cars. At one time, he had quite a collection of vintage cars, including a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster, three Ford Thunderbirds of various years, and a 1968 Ford Mustang.
Robert loved his family above all else and was the rock that everyone leaned on. He was always there when you needed him and was a wonderful father and grandfather.
He is survived by his two sisters; Betty (Clarence) Eisch and Mary Jo (Ken) Haugom, three daughters; Cynthia (Phil) Gonvers, Wendy (Paul) Hartshorn and Lori (Robert) Gerome, three granddaughters; Anne Collins-Clark, Heather Laux and Emily Gerome, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Genevieve (n'ee Kreuziger) and Harry Kohler, his wife Patricia and his brother James Kohler.
Robert was a very loved man and gathered many friends in his lifetime. He will truly be missed.
