Robert John King, age 92 of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Sunday March 29, 2020 at his home. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 26, 1927 to the late Inez Anderson and Robert King. He attended Farmington High School and was married to Leona A. King on December 1st, 1951.
Robert was a veteran and honorably served in United States Army enlisting at the end of World War II, and then served on active duty as a Sergeant in the Korean War in from 1950-1951. He was also a member of American Legion.
He began working at Owens-Illinois Glass in Toledo, Ohio and then began a career as a Sprinkler Fitter for fire protection. He worked for for Orvin Engineering in Arizona and then Metro Fire Equipment in Gilbert, AZ until his retirement. He was also a proud member of Union #669 for 70 years. He was always proud of the work he did to help save lives.
Robert is survived by his daughter Dori King and her husband Jesse Munch of Phoenix, Arizona, granddaughter Marliena Ellis, great grandson Nathan McGovern and many other loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter Jacqueline King, and wife Leona A. King.
Robert loved his family. He was a very kind, generous and special man, always happy to give others a helping hand. A true craftsman, he loved welding and woodworking, creating many wonderful things and was always interested in the mechanical workings of things. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, trains, gardening and was a tree lover, planting numerous trees around his home. We love you Bob, and will miss your presence in the world.
Family and friends are welcome to attend his service with honors and interment, which will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
