Richard “Rick” Scott Jones, 58, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, December 17th, 2016. Born in San Diego, California on February 14th, 1958, he lived most of his life in the Phoenix area.
Rick was a standout athlete at West High School and his athletic ability provided him the opportunity to play collegiate baseball for Phoenix College, Mesa State University, and Grand Canyon University. Most notably, Rick helped lead the Lopes to a 1980 NAIA National Championship victory.
Aside from his avid love for sports, Rick also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his cabin in Utah with family and friends. He was a very generous, passionate and charismatic person who always made an effort to help those in need. Usually the life of the party, he was constantly making new friends and had an innate ability to make people laugh.
Rick was a loving father who was extremely proud of his three children, Ryan, Grayson, and Jenner, always taking advantage of an opportunity to talk about them in a conversation. Rick was preceded in death by his mother Barbara Partridge and uncle Fred Holmes. In addition to his three children, Rick is survived by his father Pete Partridge, sister Kristi Strickler, aunt Shelli Palacio and a number of loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
