On Wednesday, May 11, 2022, the Gonzales family lost their hero in a unexpected heart failure. Richard Gonzales Jr AKA “Disco” was at the doctors getting his labs done and blood checked when on leaving the premises he suddenly fell to his knees. He was then met by his son Richard Abraham Gonzales for assistance getting up, in doing so he could not manage the strength. Richard was then rushed to the hospital were later he passed away.
Richard was born in Phoenix on April 17th, 1961. He attended Alhambra High School. "Disco" was every person's most close friend and had a spark that would light up every room he was in, were it would be from his go to spirit on dancing and singing. Disco had many skills, he was a butcher for 22 years with being the top Master Butcher. He grew the art of skill that would later in life help him in his passion of the outdoors. He then made a change and worked for the City of Phoenix were he would retire from. During his pursuit of the outdoors he grew many survival skills from knife making to knowledge on hunting and fishing in harsh environments. Disco was known for always wanting to be outdoors, and he taught his two sons Ruben Gonzales and Richard Gonzales the same. Disco won many Pro Bass fishing tournaments and was always generous with his knowledge of skills. He loved making new friends that shared his passion and love for the outdoors.
Family members will be scattering Richard AKA "Disco" ashes at his hunting grounds in a private ceremony. Friends and family members of the community are invited to join the Gonzales family on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022, at 3 pm for a celebration of life service. Join us at the Gonzales Residence.
Richard is survived by his mother, Antonia Armendariz; his wife, Darleen Gonzales; and his sons, Richard Abraham Gonzales and Ruben Jay Gonzales. His tireless love and devotion to his family were evident in his final moments.
