Regina Vina Green Vance was born on January 4,1956, at Fort Hood Army Base Hospital in Killeen, Texas to proud parents, the late Josie Marie Green and Jesse Dennis Green. Regina slept away peacefully while surrounded by family on Sunday, November 12, 2023.
Regina Vina was named by her father and was the only grandchild to proudly carry her grandmother Vina’s name. Regina accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized into the Adventist faith at Beacon Light Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Regina attended grades one through four at Sheraton Park Elementary School. She is fondly remembered by her 2nd Grade teacher, Dr. Lottie Lecian as a student eager to learn. Gina was well-liked by her classmates and respected her teachers. She completed her elementary education at Percy L. Julian Elementary School prior to attending Phoenix Union High School. Regina worked as an assembly person at Motorola Semiconductor Corporation.
Gina, as she was affectionately called, liked dancing and listening to good music. She loved to laugh and was quite quick-witted. She spent many weekends at her grandmother’s home where she played with her cousins, traveled to Los Angeles, California, and other cities throughout Arizona. Her grandmother, “Big Mama”, also drove them to church, picnics, field trips, and Pathfinder and Vacation Bible School activities. She enjoyed visiting with her sisters, grand and great grandchildren, other family members, and friends.
Regina Vina is preceded in death by her mother, Josie Marie Green. She leaves her loving family to treasure her dear memory: her father Jesse D. Green of Washington D.C.; son Dennis Molique Green, two daughters Treva Ann Green, and Detra Lynnette Vance; six grandchildren Desmond Green, Janae Green, Jaleel Green, D’Laughn Davis, Mia Thompson, and Marquese Whitehead; and three great grandchildren Kamryn Whitehead, Zenetta Dees and Elijah Dees. Her memory will forever be in the hearts of her two sisters Laura Catherine Smiley (Michael) and Leslie Renee Goodou; stepsister Cynthia A. Nixon of Falls Church, Virginia; aunt Josephine Pete; and uncles Robert Evans (Helen) of Chicago, Illinois, Frank Evans (Bobbie Jean) and Ronnie Lee Evans (Julia) of Laurel, Mississippi; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friend Terry King.
A graveside for Regina will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 West Beardsley Road, Phoenix, AZ 85027.
