Ralph was born Sept. 6, 1947 in Topeka, KS. He was raised in Topeka, KS, and Denver, CO, and graduated from Arvada West High School. Ralph married Jane (Hoseth) on April 12, 1975, in Denver, CO. They lived 28 years in Montana (6 years in Great Falls and 22 years in Helena). He served in the Air Force, managed wholesale Refrigeration and AC businesses, and also trained many workers in the remediation of environmental hazards, such as asbestos. Ralph was very active in his church, youth groups and men’s groups. He loved spending time with his family, children and grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking his boat out on Montana’s Missouri River.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Jane (Hoseth) DeLong, Phoenix, daughter, Rachael (Steve) Chang, Phoenix, and son, Martin (Johanna Orendorff) DeLong, Redmond, WA and four grandchildren: Rian, Ashley, Callyn and Jaiden Chang of Phoenix. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mae (Lucas) DeLong and his brother, Douglas DeLong.
A special thank you to Villa Bella, Scottsdale, for giving very loving care to Ralph during the last couple years of his life. He continued his sweet smile and sense of humor to the very end.
A visitation will be held at 1:00PM, Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Living Streams Church, 7000 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85020 followed by the memorial service at 2:00PM. Reception will follow at the Chang residence. Memorials may be made to “theaFTD.org” or charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to A. L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary.
