Kitty was born on December19, 1920 in Sonora, Arizona to Enriqueta and Silvano Garcia. She is survived by her children, Rudy (Fran ) Diaz, Evelyn (Don) Diaz Brown, Alicia (Glenn) Diaz Sutton, Anna (Dean Palmer) Diaz. In addition are her grandchildren Sonya (Thomas) MacDonald, Suzanne (Ryan Conners) Diaz, Julian (Laura Von Borstel) Brown, Courtney Moore. Her great grandchildren Enrique Diaz, Breanna (Erick) Cruz, Khouri Moore, and Alexis Conners. Her great great grandchildren Amara Cruz and Surai Cruz. She is also survived by her brothers Ernie (Alice) Garcia, Richard (Lupe) Garcia, Henry (Rachel) Garcia, and sisters Alice Abalos and Lupe Casas.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband. Everado Flores (Mac) Diaz as well as her sisters Sara Hernandez, Eva (John) Granillo, brother Robert (Chris) Garcia and Silvano (Irma) Garcia.
In her youth she lived in Sonora, Miami, Clifton, and Jerome. Eventually her family settled in Phoenix, Arizona. On January 21, 1942 she married Everardo whom she had met at church. Kitty and Mac were very active in Betania Presbyterian Church. They both had a deep abiding faith, which they passed on to their children. They were happily married raising their children until his death in 1964. Kitty then decided to continue her education. After obtaining her GED, she enrolled at Phoenix College then Arizona State University where she graduated with a Masters Degree in Special Education. She taught Special Education at Washington Elementary School until her retirement in 1986.
After retirement, she continued teaching as a volunteer in the church as well as helping with the church's food and clothing bank. She enjoyed traveling around the world and taking cruises. Besides travel, she loved animals especially dogs. She was an expert seamstress and also loved making crafts as well as being an avid reader.
She was our Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, Great Great Grandmother and Sister and we will miss her greatly. Our consolation is knowing she was taken by the Lord to Heaven where she is joined by her husband and other family and friends.
Services will be held on March 2, 2019 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Sun City, 12225 N. 103 Avenue, Sun City, AZ, 85351. A receiption will follow at the church's Swain Hall.
In lieu of flowers her family requests donations in her memory to Peoria Sunset Lions Club Foundation, P.O. Box 326, Peoria AZ 85380 for the purchase of books for needy special eduacation students.
