Phillip H. Moreno Sr. died at age 81. He is survived by his son Phillip H. Moreno Jr. (Inez Moreno) and two granddaughters Angel and Marissa. He was born to Alberto and Herlinda Moreno on February 16,1942 in Santa Ana, Sonora, Mexico. He was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Marynaomi (sister), Rafaela Romero (sister) and his brother Jesus Maria "Joe" Moreno. He graduated from Agua Fria Union High School, attended Phoenix College, and graduated from ASU with a master’s degree in Education. He taught Photography and was Yearbook Chair at Phoenix Union High School until it closed in 1982. He continued teaching Photography and Ceramics at Central High School until he retired in 2007. His love for teaching showed in the countless young lives he impacted over the span of nearly four decades. He was quiet and caring, always there for his students and family when they needed him. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, going on his walks, sitting out in the sun, shredded beef tacos and Gino’s pizza. After his retirement he continued his gift of teaching art and ESL to seniors as a volunteer at the South Mountain Senior Center. He was an Artist, dedicating his retirement years taking classes at the Phoenix Center for the Arts in Figure Drawing and Painting, which he truly enjoyed.
