Philip Roy Yeager was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on August 9th, 1953. He moved to Phoenix when he was a child and attended Cortex High School. After graduation he joined the Navy where he was an Air Anti-Submarine Sensor Operator. In 1976 he was hired by the Phoenix Fire Department, became a paramedic and in 1980 was paramedic of the year. Over his 36 years in the department he was part of the Urban Search and Rescue Team and was deployed to Oklahoma City, 9/11 and Katrina along with many other assignments with the USSAR team. He was a Captain, Battalion Chief, Division Chief and in 2012 retired as a Deputy Chief. He played a lot of golf, traveled and loved to play his guitar. He was an Arizona Cardinals fan from day one as well as an Arizona Diamondbacks fan. In 2018 he was diagnosed with dementia and slowly declined over the next 5 years. He passed away during the night on December 23rd, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard Yeager and Joan Eisman and 2 brothers Gary and Richard. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Joanne, 2 daughters Emily Barton (Matt) Lea Johan and his son Erik (Heather). Grandchildren Kinsley Barton, Macklin Barton, Tracee Chouinard (Tyler) and Eric Johan (Candace), 3 great grandchildren Tristin, Tatum and Tylee Chouinard, Brother Doug (Cindy) Sisters Kathy (James) and Jackie (Kevin) and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for Phil will be held on January 26th at 10:00 at Christ Church of the Valley (CCV) 15025 N. 19th Ave in Phoenix.
