

Phil was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to George and Leliah Pittman on January 30th, 1924. He went to High School at Glenbard West, Glen Ellyn, IL and graduated in 1943. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp after graduation and served his country until the end of WWII as an airplane mechanic.
Phil worked at Roselle Ford, Bottemens Grocery store and Herbener TV Shop in Roselle, IL. In 1968 he moved his family to Phoenix and worked at Black and Ryan as a TV Repairman and then started working at Washington School District until his retirement in 1986.
He was involved in the Model A Restorers Club and co-founded the Early V8 Club in Phoenix. He enjoyed the various car club events, working on cars, tinkering and making metal artwork. Phil is preceded in death by his wife and children’s mother, Dorothy M. Pittman (Navin); father, George W. Pittman; mother, Leliah M. Pittman (Leiter); wife Violet (Vi) Pittman (Johnson) and sister, Ludella Ebinger (Pittman).
Phil is survived by his son, Ralph (Nancy) Pittman; daughters, Gloria and Joyce Pittman of Phoenix; brother, Robert Pittman of Laguna Nigel, CA; sister, Patricia Pittman of Phoenix; grandsons, Kevin Pittman of Phoenix, David Pittman of Eugene, OR., and Kyle Yoder of Ames, IA.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Suntree Center, Adult Day Health Care & School for Seniors, where Phil “worked” for the past 27 months…and also, a special shout out to Sven McNeil and Hunter Jones of Phoenix, AZ who adopted Phil as their “Grandfather”.
Visitation will be held at A. L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix, AZ on Friday May 6th 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Memorial services will be held at Sunrise United Methodist Church, 19234 N. 7th Ave. Phoenix, AZ on Saturday May 7th, 2016 at 1:00 PM.
