On the afternoon of March 10, 2013, Pauline passed away after a courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, relatives, and friends. Throughout her illness, she did not allow it to slow her down nor did it change her outlook on life, living each day with compassion and concern for others, always placing their welfare before hers. She was born June 2, 1943, in Canton, China. In 1962 she immigrated to the United States, spending the next 39 years at Lucky Star Market in Eloy, Arizona, and then retiring to Tempe, Arizona in 2001. Her passions included sharing her cooking with family and friends, trying her luck on slot machines, playing mah jongg with her BFFs, sewing anything she could, watching Phoenix Suns basketball (especially Kevin Johnson and Steve Nash), and most importantly spending time with family and friends. Pauline is survived by Jack, her husband of 50 years and children Henry (Lillian), Richard (Jessica), Lily (Michael) Wong and Larry, sister Sylvia (Fai) Quan, brothers Chuck (Aylin) Yu and Peter (Wan Yee) Yu. She cherished the time she had with her three grandchildren Lindsie, Jacqueline, and Kellan. She was preceded in death by her father Chiu Yu and mother Sheung Seto Yu and brothers See Ming Yu and Raymond Yu. Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her family and friends who provided support and encouragement during the difficult times. Special thank you goes to Dr. Rahul Athalye and his staff, and Dr. Patrick Donovan, Diane Childers-Watson and the staff at the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center. Visitation will be held at A. L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix on Friday, March 15 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Serenity Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 719 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix on Saturday, March 16 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center or the University of Arizona Cancer Research Center in her honor would be appreciated.
