

Pauline Lois McKechnie, 81, of Peoria, Arizona, passed away on July 4, 2014. Born in Benton County Iowa on July 9, 1932, departed on July 4, 2014 in Phoenix, Arizona. Pauline McKechnie, 81, passed peacefully at Hospice of the Valley’s Sherman Home in Phoenix, with her family and close friends at her side. Services will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00am in the chapel at Phoenix Memorial Park & Mortuary to be followed by a celebration of her life held at the home of DeLoy and Bill Salazar.
Pauline attended Lutheran parochial school in Atkins Iowa, graduated from Atkins High School (1950), and was stationed in Maine with her husband Richard while he served in the US Air Force. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard in 1951 and moved her family to Arizona in the 1980’s. After Pauline retired from Valley National Bank of Arizona in the 1980’s she supported Dick’s commercial masonry business; boarded horses at their mini ranch in Glendale; and became a devoted grandmother.
Pauline had a way with people and developed lasting relationships with you and old alike. She was an outstanding grandma, a devoted friend and a great mom! She will truly be missed by all of us, friend and family alike. Pauline is survived by her three children, DeLoy (Bill) Salazar, Rhonda (Ernie) Cheetham and Kevin McKechnie; four grandchildren, Alexandra (Nathan) Faust, Richard McKechnie, Nicole (Craig) Franklin and Heather McKechnie and three great grandchildren, Makayla and Savannah Franklin, and Lily Dennison; and sisters, Jeanne Rathje and Joyce Barrett. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth (Nerison) Simmer, husband Richard (Dick) McKechnie, and sister, Joanne (Svejda) Bright.
