Patrick Warren Baker, age 71, went to be with the Lord on July 8, 2012 after a long illness. Pat was born in Indiana but moved to Phoenix to be with family upon his return from the military. Pat was a member of the U.S. Army Military Police. He wanted to be a police officer when he left the service, but an illness made that impossible. He then made his livelihood as a heavy duty mechanic, working at the City of Phoenix for many years. He was very knowledgeable in the field and is what many would call a master mechanic. He had a passion for auto racing in his early years that continued throughout his adult life with a love of automobiles and machines. Pat is survived by his ex-wife Annabelle Baker, children, Connie Baker, Brenda (Jeff) Black, and Robert Baker, brothers, Michael Baker, Dennis (Jeannie) Baker, sister, Amy (Bill) Wessel, sister-in-law Betty Springs, 2 grandchildren, Hanna Black and Nicolas Black, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his step-father Alvy Springs, mother Bertha Springs, and brother Craig Springs. Services will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 9:00 AM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Sunrise Hospice, 1840 E. University Dr., Mesa, AZ 85203.
