birth mother Beatrice Redding, and adopted shortly after by her mother Ophelia A
Reid. Pamela was raised as a child in Memphis, Tennessee and later relocated with
her mother Ophelia to Phoenix, Arizona. Affectionately known to friends and
family as “PJ”, Pamela attended and graduated from North High School on
Phoenix’s East Side. Pam loved life and enjoyed being surrounded by her friends
and family. She gave her life to Christ at an early age as a young person attending
her mother’s church, the Tonto Church of Christ, then later becoming a member
of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
Early in Pam’s career she thrived in retail fueling her love of fashion. This would
create a path for her to foster her love of things such as Donna Karen and other
designer apparel, but it would also introduce her to some of her best friends along
the way.
Later, following her mother Ophelia’s path of being a servant to the people, she
entered the mental health field working to provide resources and service to the
Phoenix’s lower income and underserved communities.
Pam retired from the city of Phoenix in 2018. Pam dedicated her life until the end
to giving herself to people who needed her most.
Pamela is proceeded in death by her husband Duane C. Griffith, mother Ophelia,
step father James (Elvis), her birth mother Beatrice, her sister Darrien, and
brother Charles.
Pamela transitioned January 11th, 2020 surrounded by her family. She leaves
behind her two brothers Paul Reed and Larry Hill. Her two sisters Virgina Moore
and Janet Moore. Her children Christine, Curtis, Trenisha, and Shannon. Her
grandchildren Savionne, Ajani (Layne), Bailey, Cynya, Jordyn, and a host of foster
siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
