Olga Potapenko, 87, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully on May 4, 2012. She was born on December 25, 1924 in New York City. Olga had a huge heart. She was always the first one to bring someone a casserole, make that phone call, bake a batch of cookies to share or visit someone who was ailing. Olga was very committed to her church, SS Peter and Paul Eastern Orthodox Church. If there was a need, she met that need with dedication and enthusiasm. She had a great passion for travel. Nothing got in her way. Even toward the end of her illness, she made a trip to Russia as well as a cruise to the Caribbean. Her travels also included Alaska, Hawaii, England, Ireland, Greece, Italy and other spots around Europe. She was a very strong woman, determined to make the most out of her life She was an inspiration to all who knew her and she will be missed by her family and friends. Olga is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Martha, and her sister, Anna Brinkman. She is survived by her two nieces, Christina Holland and Victoria Sherrell; her two nephews, James Holland and Stuart Sherrell as well as her three great-nephews, Andrew Holland, Sean Holland and Aaron Sherrell. Services will be held at SS Peter and Paul Eastern Orthodox Church, 1614 E. Monte Vista Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85006, on Thursday, May 10th at 10AM. Interment will be at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery following the service. Contributions may be made in her honor to SS Peter and Paul Eastern Orthodox Church Building or Parking Lot fund.
