March 25, 1939 - June 29, 2024
Norman was born and raised in Buffalo Center, Iowa March 25, 1939. He was the fourth of five boys born to Clarence and Hazel (Zenor) Bond. Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Heni; parents; and brothers: Paul, Hugh, and Lowell. He is survived by his children Kyle (Jennifer) and Nicole; and grandchildren Halley (David), Ethan, Jedidiah (Kaitlin), and Sierra; and great granddaughter Dahlia.
Norman was a lover of the Scriptures, Israel, history, archeology, and going on adventures! His passions lead him to the Promised Land where he met and married Heni (Boin) in Jerusalem in 1965. Shortly thereafter they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and were blessed with two children, Kyle and Nicole.
He held numerous jobs over the years from being an orderly in a hospital, working in a carbon battery factory, a slaughterhouse, managed apartments, worked on archeological digs in Israel, was a high school history teacher in the Twin Cities, and was a pastor/ Bible teacher in northern Minnesota before settling on a career in Insurance and Investments/ Retirement Planning. In the mid 1970’s, while working for Mid-West Life, he moved from St. Paul, MN to Lincoln, NE. A few years after retirement, he and Heni moved to Phoenix, AZ.Norman enjoyed world travel, being actively involved in his local church, teaching on Hebraic Roots and the Jewish Festivals. He had an amazing sense of humor, loved to play games, and getting into mischief. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, “house projects”, and riding his bicycle. He was a man who blessed and edified others, shared of his time, ideas, and spiritual walk and salvation with those around him.
Norman was a faithful husband who loved his wife, children and grandchildren and was deeply loved and respected by them. As a man who reverently feared HaShem and in obedience to his LORD, he kept the Jewish Festivals and Shabbat. It is said that the righteous man may be granted to pass on Shabbat. Norman passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 29, 2024. He was a wonderful father and friend and will be deeply missed by all.
He wanted to be remembered as a man who loved God, loved his family, was loyal and true to his word. He lived an exemplary life of loving the LORD with all his heart, all his soul, and all his resources and he taught those principals to his children, grandchildren, and all who knew him. He loved all of Scripture, but some of his favorites were found within the Psalms: 1, 27, 91, 121, 145, 150.
Psalms 145: 1-2 sums up his life well; “I will extol Thee, my God, O King; and I will bless Thy name forever and ever. Everyday I will bless Thee and I will praise Thy name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised; His greatness is unsearchable.” (NASB) A celebration of life service will be held at CCV Peoria Campus 7007 West Happy Valley Road, Building #400, Peoria, AZ 85383-3223 on Monday August 12, at 2:00pm followed by an open house at the home of Nicole Bond.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to one of his favorite charities; Bridges for Peace: https://www.bridgesforpeace.com/.
