Passed away on January 22, 2021. Born on August 27, 1938 in Phoenix, Az. Son of Isabelle and Nicholas Rios. Preceded in death by his father, Nicholas Rios, his mother Isabelle Martinez, and step father Carmen B. Martinez, his sister Carmen M. Franco, his sister Virginia A. Rios and his niece Delores M. Ross. He is survived by his brothers Andres A Rios (Dilia), Robert A Martinez (Frances), and sister Barbara M. Maldonado (Alfred). He is also survived by his uncle Thomas Almanza and his aunt Minerva Almanza.
Nicholas grew up in Phoenix, attended Lowell Elementary School, graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1957. He joined the United States Marine Corp then he returned to Phoenix and started working for Valley National Bank, which eventually became Chase J.P Morgan Bank Services where he worked until he retired. He was active as a volunteer with the American Legion and the Phoenix Boys and Girls Clubs. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp Honor Guard which provided honorary services to Medal of Honor recipients of Arizona. He supported the Annual Tommy Nunez Basketball tournament which provided youth services to youth in Phoenix.
Nicholas was always known for carrying flags of the United States in the trunk of his car so that he could hand them out to children everywhere he went. Graveside services will be private for immediate family only. Arrangements by A. L. Moore – Grimshaw Mortuary.
