Nancy's husband recalls "My wonderful wife Nancy L Higgins (Godwin) was born in Hot Springs, AR, lived in Ft. Huachuca AZ during the II World War, returned to Hot Springs, and then in 1945 the family moved to Douglas AZ and in 1953 they moved to Mesa, AZ. She graduated from Mesa High School, attended Lamson Business College and graduated from ASU. She married me,in 1956; after college she became a mother of 4 children and helpmate for me, an Army Officers Wife living through 17 moves around the the world over many years. In 1963 we got out of the service and went to our Ranch in Mohave County. She didn’t like the ranch life so I went back into the Army.
After my separation from the army in 1980 Nancy became the Business Manager of the Center for Solid State Science at ASU and retired in 2000. In 2001 she and I started volunteering at Mt. Vernon, VA, doing 18th century farming and talking to visitors about George Washington’s farm and being surrogate grandparents for the College Interns. We also traveled around Europe and the United States enjoying the history of each place.
Nancy has been a servant of the Lord for over 40 years; we have enjoyed serving with her. She had a gift of discernment and could feel others that hurt; she was never bashful about offering to pray with or for anyone anywhere. Nancy was great cook and capable manager; both in her Work and in our home. She has been the center of my life for sixty two and a half years, helping me, loving me and our family, a shoulder to cry on, a confidante, has shared happy and sad times and been my fellow traveler together.
I will miss her greatly but we know where she is and we know she would not come back if given the choice. She is with her Lord and her Savior and home!"
