N. Frank McClure, 91, of Phoenix AZ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21. Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Shirley, parents William A. McClure and Mary Simonton McClure, and stepbrother Graeme Sieber. Frank is survived by his wife Betty, brothers George and Alfred, stepbrother James Sieber, children Patricia, Sharon, David, Mark, and Matthew, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many beloved extended family members.
Frank was born on September 16, 1925 in Waterloo, PA and grew up on a farm in Blairs Mills, PA. When Frank turned 18 he enlisted in the Army Signal Corps, served a short time, and was honorably discharged after the end of WWII. Frank married and enjoyed his three children, in addition to owning and operating N. Frank McClure HVAC/Fuel Oil in New Cumberland, PA for 26 years. He was a long-time, proud member of the Arizona Pipe Trades Union #469. While a dedicated, successful business man, he also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, water skiing, dancing, and flying single and twin engine airplanes over the years and well into retirement. In the early 1970’s his second wife Shirley and their two young sons traveled the United States for two years and settled in Phoenix, AZ in the early 1970’s. They returned to Harrisburg in the late 1970’s and returned for good to Phoenix in 1983. A widower for a short time, Frank married Betty Clevenger in 2006 and the two enjoyed traveling, and visiting family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 8th at 11:00am at Shadow Mountain Mortuary, 2350 E Greenway Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85022. A light lunch will follow the service. Inurnment and Committal Service will take place for the immediate family at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Phoenix or Arizona Family Hospice.
