Myrtle Barbara Whitaker

Myrtle Barbara Whitaker (Swingle), 95, passed away September 24, 2010 with family by her side. She was a kind, gentle, sweet, and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Myrtle graduated from Phoenix Union High School. Following high school, she married her lifelong sweetheart, JC Whitaker. Myrtle spent some time working for a Gold Bond Stamp Company but devoted most of her time to her family as a full-time homemaker. She spent her time doting on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchldren. When not engaged with family she enjoyed sewing and solving crossword puzzles. Myrtle is survivied by her daugher, Margaret Hutton; a brother, four grandchldren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great granddaughters. When she enetered heaven, she would have been greeted by her husband, JC, her son, Tom, and her son-in-law Del Hutton, Sr. who preceded her in death. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, 2010 beginning at 9:00 am at Phoenix Memorial Park & Mortuary, 200 W. Beardsley Rd., Phoenix, AZ with a Service of Remembrance beginning at 10:00am. Burial will follow at Phoenix Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the famly respectfully requests donations be made to Hospice of the Southwest or the Alzheimer’s Association in Myrtle’s name.
