Moses Lee Jenkins came into this world on March 7, 1930, in Jefferson County, Florida to the late Samuel and Laura Jenkins. He was affectionately called “Pappa” or “Pastor”. He made his triumphant transition to glory on November 28, 2022, with his eyes looking toward Heaven. Assuredly, the angels rejoiced at his arrival.
Moses Jenkins was born and grew up in Florida. He met and married the late Equilla Leonard on May 17, 1954 and remained married to her for 54 years until her death on October 26, 2008. From this union four children were born, Gwendolyn Yvonne, Sharon, Brenda, and Johnny Jenkins.
In January 1960, Moses moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he united with the Union Institutional Baptist Church. It was there he was developed for ministry and served on the Ushers Board. During this time, he became known as the voice of the Willing Workers Union radio show every Sunday morning 9:15 – 10:00 am on KASA Radio. The radio broadcast featured local Valley ministers, a weekly young female singing group, local churches and when necessary, Bro. Jenkins would teach the Word himself. This radio ministry lasted over twenty (20) years focusing on outreaching to the lost and saving souls. In his early days, every 1st Sunday, he would visit Phoenix area nursing homes, have church service, and administer communion to the residents.
In October 1973, he received his ministerial license to preach under Reverend Allison D. Reed of Union Institutional Baptist Church. On January 27, 1977, he organized the Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church; and on February 20, 1977, he was ordained. He faithfully served as Good Shepherd’s beloved Pastor for over 40 years. He loved his church family dearly and compassionately and always felt it a privilege and a joy to pastor the flock. His favorite scripture was 2 Corinthians 5:7 which says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight”. Pastor Jenkins had a strong desire to motivate, educate and equip people through the Word of God. Even while in the rest home he was still praying for and with other residents and staff.

His sisters: Ann Nelson (Tommy), Daisy Clinton (Gilbert), Dorothy Gooden, Rosa Dacas, and Ida McNeil (Clay). His brothers: Ben Jenkins, John Jenkins, Eddie Lee Jenkins (Ida, Shirley), Eddie B.
