Born in 1946 in Ventura, CA to Bud and Ruth Briske, Mike grew up in Phoenix attending Emerson Grade School, North Phoenix High School, and Arizona State University. Much of his time as a child was spent exploring the area of East Verde Park where his family had a cabin. At that time, he had aspirations of becoming a paleontologist.
During his years in the Army, he earned the rank of E5, traveling to US embassies and repairing crypto machines in various countries.
Mike worked at Motorola for a short time as subcontractor, landing a permanent position with Air Research for a 30+ year career that would last through the evolution of name changes through those years! (Air Research, Garrett, Allied, Allied Signal, Honeywell, etc).
Since retiring from Honeywell, Mike enjoyed many hobbies including hunting, fishing, and golf. A natural artist, he loved jewelry-making and had started designing greeting cards. Most recently, his time was spent volunteering for Arizona American Italian Club writing the monthly newsletter and fixing machines for Arizona Talking Books Library.
He never met a stranger. Mike was always willing to help out anyone he could. His instant smile and friendly personality opened conversations and grew friendships. He will be missed by so many.
Mike is survived by wife Sally, son Brandon (Karen), daughter Tami (Scott), also by his sister Penny (Dick), multiple nieces and nephews, and 5 grandchildren: Andrew, Hunter, Haven, Haleigh and Hannah, all of whom he adored.
A committal service with military honors for Michael will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ALMoore-Grimshaw.com for the Briske family.
