Merrell Atkinson

Merrell is survived by her children, Son Robert R Atkinson (wife LaRae) of Farmington, NM;

Daughter Sharon Lara (husband Tony) of Phoenix AZ, Son David Atkinson (wife Theresa) AZ.

Ten grandchildren & fourteen Great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews and Brother Franklin (Skip) D. Farmer.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Robert R. Atkinson and Daughter Darlene Atkinson both of Phoenix, Az.

Merrrell was born on January 7, 1927 in Logan West Virginia to Taylor and Rosa Farmer. Merrell went to school with Robert's Sister (Geneva)and that's where they met. They were married in West Virginia and moved to Arizona in 1950. Merrell worked for many years for Food City in Phoenix AZ. Over the years, they welcomed 4 children and many grandchildren to their family, and set about teaching them about the Lord.

Merrell was a Sunday school teacher all of her adult life, and was always active in church, (most recently at Desert Springs Worship Center in Cashion, AZ). Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt or Friend, .anyone who ever knew her would agree on one thing! She loved Jesus and he loved her! All she ever wanted was to make sure every person she met knew of his sacrificial love for them.

SIMPLY PUT She loved with the love of Christ always!

Most Fond memory:

She taught her Grandchildren to answer anyone who asked (usually her)

“who’s the greatest Grandma in the whole wide World”

And everyone of them would raise their arms in the air and proudly say

“ Grandma Merrell” She said other grandmas could come up with their own sayings❣

Gotta love her!

Resthaven Mortuary & Memorial Gardens 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042

Viewing: Sept. 1, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Sept 2nd from 9:30am to 10:30am

Service: Sept. 2nd Funeral Service is from 10:30a to 11:30a with Graveside to follow
