Mary Arvallo Lopez

Mary A. Lopez, age 92, entered into the Kingdom of God on June 13 2017. Mary was born in Agua Prieta, Mexico on June 23, 1924 to Sebera Murillo and Jose Arvallo who passed away in 1931 and 1934 respectively. Mary resided in Maricopa County since March 1931 where she eventually married and raised her children. Mary was a widow by the age of 37 after the death of her husband Luis Vega Lopez in 1961. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She taught her family to love God and to love others. She had a hearty laugh and sense of humor. Mary loved to have her friends over for coffee every morning and she would get up at 5am and put on a 40-cup pot of coffee. On June 12 2017 as Mary knew she was going to pass away she said out loud to the family that surrounded her, “Quieranse uno al otro y no se pelean” which translates to “love one another and don’t fight.” Spoken like a true mom. She also said, “Dios es todopoderoso” which translates to “God is Almighty.”

Mary is survived by her adult children, Mary Lou Galaviz, Manuel Jesus Lopez (Sandra), Alicia Casares (Oscar), Francisco Lopez (Alice), Emilia L. Valenzuela (Robert), Rosie Hernandez (John), and Manuel Coronado. She is also survived by 46 grandchildren, 80 Great-grandchildren and 68 great-great grandchildren. Mary is predeceased by her adult children Mercedes Gomez, Irene Coronado, Guadalupe Lopez and Raul Lopez and infant children Angelita Lopez and Delia Lopez. She is also predeceased by her two sisters Panchita and Socorro and her brother Manuel Arvallo.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 28th 2017 at St Agnes Catholic Church, Viewing at 9am, Rosary at 930am, Mass at 10am. Procession after the mass to Resthaven Cemetary at 4310 E. Southern Avenue where she will be layed to rest with her beloved daughter Irene Coronado. Reception will follow the burial at St Agnes Catholic Church hall at 1954 N. 24th Street, Phoenix, AZ.
