Mary Ellen, born on October 4th, 1931 to George W & Carol S Evenden in Williamsport PA, brought joy and laughter into the world. Mary Ellen graduated from Williamsport High in 1949 as an honor student. After graduating from high school, Mary Ellen went on to pursue a degree in Nursing at Robert Packer School of Nursing, Sayre, PA.
Mary Ellen fell in love with Nursing and helping people which led to her moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming with 2 Nursing School friends to support Cheyenne Regional hospitals. All 3 friends then joined the US Air Force which ensued a 7+ years in the United States Air Force Nursing Corps and Air Force Reserves where she left the Reserves as a Captain in 1963. She had a 40+ year career in nursing retiring from the City of Kansas City Missouri in 1989 plus 10 more years as a Home Health Nurse with Westport Home Health in Kansas City Mo. before retiring to Kimberling City, MO on Table Rock Lake in 1999.
In 1956 while in the Philippines during her Air Force Nursing career, she met the Love of her Life, Ron Hartnett. Mary Ellen & Ron were married on November 30th, 1957 and were married for over 66 years. They had three children, Kevin, Diane and Timothy.
Mary Ellen was predeceased by her parents and her Brother, George W. She is survived by her husband, her three children, her seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She will be laid to rest at The National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Monday December 18th ai 9:30 am.
