joined our Lord and the angels on Feb. 8th, 2012, in Phoenix, AZ. Born May 6th, 1930 in Chicago, IL, to Dr. George and Ella Mae (Hicks) Turner, Mary grew up there and attended Grinnell College, Iowa. She earned a B.A. and an M.A. and taught elementary school. Later, Mary studied Art History. Mary married Richard M. George, Jr. in Chicago in 1954, where he graduated from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. Mary and Dick lived and raised their family in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Arizona, where he served parishes, finally as Dean of Trinity Cathedral, Phoenix. Mary is survived by her brother, George Turner, Jr., (Rosemary) of Chicago; her brother-in-law, Michael George (Diana), of Belvidere, IL; her children, Mary Elizabeth, Thomas, David and Andrew and spouses; and her six grandchildren: Uriah, Tristan, Allison, Ella Mae, Ryan and Nolan. In lieu of flowers, Mary wished donations in her memory to go to Trinity Cathedral (trinitycathedral.com) or to Ryan House Pediatric Hospice (ryanhouse.org), 110 W. Merrell St., Phoenix, 85013. An eleven o'clock memorial mass will be held Sat., Feb. 18th, at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 100 W. Roosevelt St. in Phoenix, 85003.
