David Mark Brady, born in Vancouver, B.C. Canada on September 14, 1947 passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 30th. Loving husband of Nancy Brady, Mark lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy as a man of his word who lived life with gusto, courage, and love.
From a young age, he followed in his father's footsteps, cultivating a deep love for aviation that would shape much of his life. After graduating from Sentinel High School in West Vancouver in 1965, Mark headed to Skyways in Abbotsford to obtain his pilot's license. His first job in aviation was with Great Northern Airways, and on June 3rd 1967 he flew as the First Officer on a DC-3 with Captain Gordon Bartsch. Over 55 accident-free years, Mark had a distinguished career in Corporate and Commercial Aviation. Mark owned and operated Futura Airlines in Vancouver where they had 21 aircraft and nearly 200 employees. After moving to Las Vegas, Mark continued in aviation, holding roles as Chief Pilot, President, or Director of Operations for many corporations. He even became a Designated Examiner on the F-27. Though Mark held many roles in management for different airlines and corporations, he was never happier at work than when he was in the left seat being Captain Mark.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mark was a man who would never walk away from a challenge or abandon what might appear to others as an impossible situation. The bigger the adventure, the more likely he was to “show-up”.
An accomplished pilot, he found solace and joy in the skies, exploring the world from above. He was also an avid fisherman, and a trail blazing skier - finding peace and excitement in the great outdoors. Mark and his son Mathew were relentless in their quest to explore the world's finest fishing spots. Friends and family could reap the rewards of those trips in Mark's kitchen where his Alaskan salmon feasts were always in high demand.
Mark's love of the outdoors was also reflected in his passion for golf as both a player and a fan. His travels allowed him to play some of the finest and most famous courses around the world, while his analytic skills and fluid swing were the envy of family and friends who regularly enjoyed their times with him on the course.
Mark's exceptional skills as a horsemen were like no other. He and Nancy enjoyed their treks to the wilderness to ride for weeks at a time. Married for 30 years, Nancy and Mark created a sanctuary for all of their much loved horses, dogs, monkeys, cats, a burro, and parrot Blarney.
A natural storyteller, Mark was known for his entertaining anecdotes and his ability to bring people together. His hospitality was legendary, and he was celebrated by friends and family alike for his cooking, cocktails, and warm demeanor.
Mark will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy, with whom he shared a profound and enduring love. Theirs was a partnership marked by mutual respect, deep affection, and unwavering support. Their ranch in Cornville was a beacon for those looking to witness the beauty of Sedona alongside the love that Mark and Nancy shared.
Mark is survived by his devoted son Mathew Brady, daughter Shannon, grandson Anthony, sister Judy and many dear nieces, nephews, and other family members. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
