Marilyn Lee Edmonds, nee Fisher, 92, of Phoenix, passed on Monday, March 19, at Hillcrest Assisted Living, where she and her battle with dementia had been cared for since 2015. She was born November 19, 1925, in Akron, Ohio, to Warren and Pauline Fisher. She was preceded in death by her husband William A. “Bill” Edmonds.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sheri, grandson Christopher and his wife, Kelly, granddaughters Amy, Katie and her husband Nick, and Meghan and her husband Dan, as well as two beautiful great-granddaughters and her delightful great-grandson, all of whom she loved very much.
Marilyn began working at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Akron after completing high school. She relocated to Arizona in 1946 and, over the course of her life, was fond of talking about how she had seen Phoenix grow and grow. She and Bill met in Phoenix, married, and remained happily married until his passing in 2003.
She loved to cook and bake. Marilyn created a family tradition in which her homemade chocolate cake, from a wartime recipe, became the focal point of family birthday celebrations for some fifty years. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
