Marian Lucille Flynn passed away on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, at the age 85, just shy of her 86th birthday. Marian was born on April 21, 1937 in Plainfield, New Jersey and was the only child to John Logest and Elizabeth Caruso Logest. Marian was of Italian dissent and very proud of her heritage. Marian spent her childhood surrounded by her large extended family, spending every weekend enjoying big family dinners at her home which she remembers fondly.
After her graduation from Plainfield High School, Marian attended what was formerly known as "beautician school", where she became a hairdresser. She very much enjoyed doing hair and socializing with her clients and friends. Marian married at the age of 18 and became a Military Wife where she lived for a short time in Sicily before returning to New Jersey and divorcing in 1969. She went on to be a waitress to support her children where she met the love of her life, John Flynn, whom she married in 1971. John and Marian moved to Arizona in 1983 and planted their roots in the West Valley. Over the next several years, her children followed and settled also in Arizona. Marian loved traveling and had some great adventures in Scotland and Ireland. She also enjoyed attending annual Vietnam Veteran Reunions across the country with John. She enjoyed going to lunch with friends, especially her friend of 60 years, Anita Schmucker.
Marian spent her last years living in Glendale, Arizona close to her family and was very active in the church as a longtime member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. She sang in the church choir and loved being in charge of whatever she did. She was the Secretary while in residency of the Inspira Assisted Living community, loved BINGO, participated in plays, choir and all the activities offered. She adored her family, loved family dinners, holidays and spending time with her beloved great granddaughters more than anything.
Marian will be remembered fondly for her love of family, her strong will, her love of social media, connecting with her granddaughter on Snapchat and friends on Facebook, her love of a good home-cooked meal, her passion for singing and dancing and her devotion to God and the church.
Marian is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Flynn, who has been waiting in heaven for her since April of 2015 and granddaughter Kristen Wright.
Marian is survived by her daughter Kimberly Kaladas and son Kenneth Kaladas, daughter in law Ginger Kaladas, Granddaughter Lisa Wright and cherished great granddaughters Karly Autumn Lessor (dad Frank Lessor) and Madison Skye Ciesla (dad Mark Ciesla). She will be greatly missed by the many friends and extended family members who loved her very much.
Friends and family are invited to attend the gravesite service at Phoenix Memorial Cemetery on Monday, March 6 at 2 pm where she will be laid to rest with John.
The family wishes to thank all the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, consider donating in her honor to Hospice of the Valley or St. Vincent de Paul.
