Maria Santos Chavez

Maria was born to Manuel and Maria Chavez in Phoenix, AZ. She is the second of five children. She is a graduate of Phoenix Union High School. After high school, Maria attended Phoenix College and earned a degree in Nursing. She would go on to earn her LPN certification while working for Good Samaritan Hospital. Health issues forced an early retirement, but it would not stop her from enjoying life.

She became an active volunteer in many church activities as well as being a member of the Red Hats, OLMC Rosary Makers, and Needlewielders. Maria was a loving grandmother who enjoyed watching mysteries, completing word searches, crocheting, and rescuing strays.

Her four siblings and her eldest son, Adan, preceded her in death. Maria’s memory lives on through her sons, Vicente and Emiliano, her only daughter, Dulcinea, and grandchildren Crystal, Omar, Gabriel, Andromeda, Bianca, Ocyrus, Sandro, Vicente and Adan.

A visitation for Maria will be held Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Agave Venue at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 West Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, AZ 85013. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 28, 2022 beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, 3424 N 18th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85015. The interment will follow at 11:45 AM at Resthaven Cemetery 4310 E. Southern Ave. Phoenix, AZ .
