November 24, 1915 - November 25, 2015. Maggie, as she
preferred to be called, was a true force of nature. Like
her daughter said, she was small but she was mighty.
She never let adversity get her down. She announced
when she was in her 80’s, and still driving her own car,
taking care of her own home and her ill sister-in-law,
that she was going to make 100 years old. She said the
same thing many times over the remaining years. One
day after her 100th birthday, she passed away in Gilbert,
Arizona. Maggie was born in Hammond, Indiana and
moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1946. She is survived by
her brother, Gilbert Delaney, three children, Marvin Gilbert Paxton, Charlene
Rose Longley and Leroy Henry Johnson, nine grandchildren and twelve great
grandchildren. A service will be held on December 12, 2015 at 2pm at the
First United Methodist Church of Gilbert, located at 331 S. Cooper Rd., Gilbert,
Arizona. The family requests that any remembrances be made to
Hospice of the Valley, 2020 E. Woodside Ct., Gilbert, AZ 85297,
whose assistance enabled the family to provided loving care for
Maggie at home in her final months.
