Magdalene "Leni" Rohde

Rohde, "Leni" Magdelene Crista, passed away on April 8th, 2016. Born on January 8th, 1939 in Hamburg Germany where she lived until the age of 10 before moving to Phoenix Arizona in 1949. Leni graduated from South High School in 1957 where she met her high school sweetheart and husband of 59 years, Paul Rohde, whom she is survived by. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she is also survived by her three sons; Richard, Randy and Eric Rohde, five grandchildren, Jessica Etheridge, Kassandra Bonura , Vince, Garrett & Jacob Rohde and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Helena Cahill & Johannes Rump, and her grand daughter, Chaunie Rohde. Leni attended Mesa Community College & University of Phoenix and was only a few credit hours short of her Bachelor's degree. She retired from Motorola, Inc. in Mesa after 39 years. She had many hobbies that kept her busy, from writing her memoirs, painting, walking, taking pictures, enjoying the summers at her cabin in Mormon Lake, AZ and spending time with her family. Mainly, Leni loved to make people laugh, which she was extremely good at. Leni belonged to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, and also enjoyed attending bible study. Services will be held at Resthaven/Carr Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens on Saturday, April 16th located at 4310 E. Southern Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85042. Visitation will begin at 9:00am with services starting at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arizona Humane Society.
