Lucile Angell White (Lucy), of Tempe, AZ died of complications of Alzheimer's Disease at the age of 81 on Saturday, June 16, 2012. She was born in Walla Walla, WA to Vern and Mabel Angell. A Visitation will be held Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm in The Chapel at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, AZ 85282. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Catholic Church of the Resurrection, 3201 S. Evergreen, Tempe, AZ 85282 with Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1562 E. Baseline Rd., Mesa, AZ 85204. Lucy was preceded in death by her sister Carolyn Corliss, brother-in-law Carl Schmitt and niece Catherine Corliss. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Harold White; daughter Angela White; grandchildren Hal and Ayn Semmens; sister Sonia Schmitt and brother-in-law and sisters-in-laws James and Betty Lou Cobain and Stewart and Sue Cobain and nieces and nephews. Lucy attended Whitman College where she became a lifelong member of the Delta Gamma Fraternity, and was graduated from Idaho State University as the highest ranked student in her college. Beginning as a child, she was an accomplished violinist and played in the symphonies of Walla Walla, Idaho State University and Arizona State University. She played the harp for the Arizona State University and Scottsdale symphonies. For thirty years, she played the harp professionally at Valley wide hotels and resorts and throughout the state for dinners, brunches, and social and religious gatherings and for ASU academic and social events. She was a grade school teacher and taught harp at religious and public schools and privately. She was the founding chair of the Arizona State University Lyric Opera Theatre Guild, was president of Chapter F of PEO, and was a volunteer for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
