After proudly serving in the United States Airforce from 1954-1976 and receiving many awards and accommodations, Louie retired as Master Sergeant and a Vietnam veteran. He also retired from his career at the City of Phoenix in the Water Department.
Louie enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, and spoiling his two crazy chihuahuas. He was always quick-witted and cracked jokes to make everyone laugh. Louie often burst into songs making up lyrics and had a pretty good singing voice. He frequently sang, “I love you a bushel and a peck and hug around the neck. You bet your boots, I do!”
Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Letha Bond, his brother, Kenneth, three half brothers, Sable, Estill, and Oval Applegate, and the mother of his three daughters, Eva (Connolly). He will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary, his three daughters, Patty Bergman, Tammy Bond, and Kathy Osborne, and his three stepsons, Pete, Donald, and Frank (Dawn) Crawford. He was also the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and the uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Military service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 7, at 1:00 PM at the National Memorial Cemetary of Arizona.
